Keep It Civil

This site doesn’t really discuss hot-button topics, so there probably aren’t a lot of you who are going to get heated here. However, if we don’t tell you not to and you do, it’s on us. So, if we’re going to have civil conversations here, we’ve got some ground rules.

Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content.
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

If you’re spreading hateful, inflammatory, or harassing stuff, we’re gonna boot you. Treat everyone with respect and dignity.

If you’ve got something to add to the discussion, please do. Try to avoid detracting from it.

Do everyone a favor and think before you post

Keep It Tidy

Ok, this is about two things.

Number 1, let’s not make this spammy.

Clearly I’m not talking to the bots here.

If you want to link back to your content, make sure you’ve added value in your comment first. Then make sure the content you’re linking to adds to the conversation. If it doesn’t, our mods are going to drop it like it’s hot.

Number 2, stay on topic.

Seriously, there’s nothing worse than someone leaving a comment that only confuses everyone else.

Before you post, make sure you’re talking about something directly related to the article you’re posting about or the conversation below. It’s too easy to derail the conversation into something completely different if we’re not all being careful.

Report Inappropriate Conduct

Please flag anything that violates the above terms. We don’t have 24-7 moderators, and we won’t necessarily see everything without the community’s help.

If you see an issue, let us know.
